Livestreamed Faculty RecitalsLocationOnline
The Vassar College Music Department Fall 2020 Virtual Concert Series continues with two livestreamed faculty recitals and a pre-recorded performance by the Vassar College Orchestra Strings. Please note, the Skinner Hall of Music and the VC Chapel are currently closed to the public—the only way to view these events is online at https://music.vassar.edu/concerts/webcast/.
Sunday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m., Anna Polonsky, piano, Things My Students Play.
This hour-long recital will feature selections inspired by the repertoire of Ms. Polonsky’s students, including Schumann, Mozart, and others. A second-chance viewing of this webcast will be available on Saturday, December 12 at 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 15 at 4:00 p.m., Alexander Bonus, keyboards and electronics, Isolation Mantras.
In this recital of electro-acoustic premieres, Alexander Bonus combines historically styled keyboard improvisation with the latest modular synthesizer technology. Considered “surrealistic” by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Dr. Bonus’s compositions have been performed by professional instrumentalists across America. In these semi-structured improvisations, a neo-impressionistic sound-world emerges from themes in constant flux and transformation: Isolation Mantras echoes the indeterminate state of modern times. A second-chance viewing of this webcast will be available Saturday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m.
Vassar College Orchestra, under the direction of Eduardo Navega, will be playing excerpts of Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Strings in E minor and the Sonata in D Major by Antônio Carlos Gomes. This innovative pre-recorded webcast will be available online beginning Monday, November 23 at 8:00 p.m.
