12 Sat. 8:00 Music Faculty Concert: Louis Pappas, double bass, and friends.
Louis Pappas joins with fellow faculty members Ed Xiques, saxophone and Peter Tomlinson, piano, with guests Kaylyn Kinney, flute and piccolo, Noriko Futagami Herndon, viola, Janice Nimetz, piano, Ron DeFesi, bass-baritone, Peter Einhorn, guitar, and T. Xiques, drums, to present a program of classical and jazz selections including works by Bach, Mozart, and Schulhoff.

A member of the Saturday Night Live Band since 1984, Steve Turre, trombone, is one of the world’s preeminent jazz innovators. Join us for this special Thursday night presentation. A Dickinson-Kayden Event.
26 Sat. 7:00 Musical Bridge Concert: Christine R.
Howlett, Edward Lundergan, and Lee H. Pritchard, conductors. An evening of choral music celebrating the Quadricentennial of the Hudson Valley. Featuring 200 voices with the combined efforts of the Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir, Camerata Chorale, Kairos, Ulster Choral Society, and the Vassar College Choir. Supported in part by a grant from ExploreNY400 with funding made possible by the Hudson- Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial. Chapel.


3 Sat. 8:00 Music Faculty Recital: Terry Champlin, guitar, with guests Jeff Haynes, percussion, Helen Avakian, voice and guitar, Sabina Torosjan, violin and Vilian Ivantchev, guitar, will present a concert of solo and chamber music.

This award winning choral ensemble returns to Vassar with their featured program “In time of...Songs of love & loss, war & peace.” Flawless intonation, fascinating repertoire and uniquely beautiful sound in 2008 gained Chanticleer induction into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame and acclamation as Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year,” the first time a vocal group was so honored. Chanticleer is internationally renowned as “An Orchestra of Voices.” A Barbara Woods Morgan Event.

Christine R. Howlett, conductor. Featuring Psalm Trilogy by Canadian composer, Srul Irving Glick, Libby Larsen’s Canticle of Mary, and the inventive and captivating music of British composer Tarik O’Regan.
8 Sun. 3:00 Guest Event: Sérgio and Odair Assad, guitars.
Brazilian-born brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad have created a new standard of guitar innovation, ingenuity, and expression. Their exceptional artistry and uncanny ensemble playing come from both a family rich in Brazilian musical tradition and from studies with the best guitarists in South America. Emily Bookwalter ’10, Nicholas Rocha ’11, Catherine O’Kelly ’11, and Mark Van Hare ’10, conductors. Selections will include “O vos omnes” by Pablo Casals, “Façade” by William Walton, and a new work by Nathan Hall ‘04.
