Gregg Michalak earned a Master’s in Music Performance at Ithaca College where he studied piano performance under Morris Borenstein, Mary Ann Covert, and Phiroze Mehta. Later studies were with such distinguished artists as Ruth Laredo, Augustin Anievas, Lukas Foss, and Solomon Mikowsky. A prize winner in several national and international competitions including the World Keyboard Competition (formerly AMSA), the Five Towns Piano Competition, and the MTNA competition, he has collaborated with such artists as cellist, Yosef Feigelson; singers Courtenay Budd and Sarah Levine-Simon; violinist, Ihor Shablovsky; and horn, Abby Mayer.
Active in the Hudson Valley music scene, he has performed with many noted artists, conductors, and orchestras, and has worked with many prize-winning students. A member of the Vassar College music department since 2005, he works with students as piano accompanist and vocal coach.
