Wind Ensemble

Wind Ensemble

The Vassar College Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mr. James Osborn, is a fifty-member ensemble of student and community musicians. The group is open to all woodwind, brass, and percussion players by audition. Founded in 2001, the Wind Ensemble plays two concerts per year, usually late in the fall and spring semesters, and features works of the wind and band repertoire. Recent concerts have included original band pieces by John Barnes Chance, Eric Whitacre, and Robert Russell Bennett, as well as the Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich and a suite from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in arrangements for wind ensemble. The Vassar College Wind Ensemble rehearses once a week as a group, with additional section rehearsals.
